Our Philosophy

Our policy is to try to prevent you from running out of medicines.  Please let us know when you are checked in by a medical assistant if you will be needing refills on any of your medicines.   If you do run out in between appointments, please try to give us three business days in which to address the refill request.

Our office works best when we can anticipate the number and type of visits we'll have per day, but we always keep a few visits open daily for "sick visits."  If you are sick, please call us to see if we have a same-day or next-day appointment for you.

First Time Visit

First Time Visit:
Ideally, on your first visit, we will have a "Meet & Greet" visit, in which we'll discuss your current and past health, review your family's medical history, determine if updated labs are needed, and order relevant past records to be sent. Of course, if you are ill on that day, we may just address your current issue and save the background for another visit.

We have a small lab where tests for urinary infections and strep throat can be performed while you wait. If your provider determines you need labs done on the day of an appointment, we will do it for you here, while non-urgent lab work is performed at the SED or TriCore labs. We will call you with abnormal results, and review normal ones at your next appointment.

Our web site also provides you with background information about our providers, staff, office hours, insurance policies, appointment procedures, maps and/or directions to our office in Albuquerque and other useful information. We know how hectic life can be and we are trying to make our practice convenient and accessible.  We want you to feel confident that when you choose a primary care practice, you're working with a doctor and other professionals who are qualified, experienced and caring.

Please take a few moments to look through this site to get a better feel for our services. We also invite you to call the office at any time to request an appointment or ask any questions.

Thank you!

Our Philosophy:
Dr. Carr's office is in some ways an old-fashioned practice, emphasizing thorough, personalized primary care that embraces the whole person.  It is not unusual to come in for a cold and also end up discussing osteoporosis risks and when your next cholesterol check should be.  We place a high priority on offering accurate, responsive, empathetic care.  We are also very interested in helping people with prevention of health problems, including smoking cessation, diet and exercise counseling, and stress management.
